Regular meditation brings many physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual benefits. Using crystals for meditation amplifies these effects and helps us achieve faster results. There are so many different crystals, and so many ways to use them, so in this guide to using meditation crystals, I break it down for you, explaining the best crystals to use for meditation, how to use them, and how to use a crystal grid for meditation.
Why Use Crystals for Meditation?
Crystals emit powerful vibrations that are aligned with specific outcomes and results. For example, rose quartz is excellent for opening the heart chakra and developing self-love. And amethyst is fantastic for calming the mind, easing insomnia, and connecting with divine consciousness. We can receive these benefits by simply carrying the stone around or wearing it as jewelry.
However, when we meditate, we enter a higher state of consciousness. This heightened state allows the crystal’s vibrations to easier influence our own, attuning us to the outcome of our desire. Using meditation crystals for meditation helps us to tap into the awesome potential of these healing stones, enabling us to experience their full magnificent power.
Additionally, for those who find meditation tricky, you may discover that it becomes easier when you begin meditating with crystals. This is because the stone’s vibration has an influence on your own frequency. Choosing calming crystals such as amethyst, blue lace agate, or selenite will help to relax you and open you to a meditative state.
If you are a seasoned meditator, you will find that using crystals for meditation helps you to go deeper. You will also connect with your higher self and divine cosmic consciousness much more easily.

10 Best Crystals for Meditation
You can use any crystals for meditation; it all depends on the results you desire to achieve. However, there are some crystals that align beautifully with meditation because of their natural properties. Here are my top ten favorite crystals for meditation that I regularly use in my own practice. These meditation crystals are not in order of preference; I use the ones I am drawn to at the time.
1: Clear Quartz
Clear quartz is known as the ‘master healer’ and is one of the most versatile crystals for meditation because it is an excellent all-rounder. It is easy to program with your intention and will amplify the effects of any other crystal it is used with. Clear quartz crystals bring clarity of mind and so if you need an answer to an important question or dilemma, program a piece of clear quartz with your intention to find the answers you seek and then meditate with it, focusing on your question.
Amethyst is a deeply spiritual stone and is connected to the third eye chakra. It is fantastic for all types of spiritual connection, whether you want to connect with your higher self, your spirit guides, or divine cosmic consciousness/source. It is also very calming and can help you enter deeper states of meditation. If you suffer from insomnia, try doing an amethyst meditation before you go to sleep.
Selenite is my favorite crystal ever, for all uses, and one of my most used crystals for meditation. It is known as ‘liquid light’ because it fills you up with pure healing energy, raising your vibration and state of consciousness. It clears your mind, relaxes your body, and opens you to receive all the blessings that are coming your way. Selenite is connected with the moon. It brings a calm, peaceful, and positive vibe to your meditations.
4: Rainbow Fluorite
Rainbow fluorite has been a meditation companion of mine for a long time. I have a beautiful translucent palm stone that I meditate with. Rainbow fluorite is one of the most grounding and protective crystals for meditation (along with black tourmaline). It also enhances intuitive abilities and connects you to universal consciousness.
5: Blue Lace Agate
Blue lace agate is a beautifully calming stone. It induces a state of tranquillity and peace during meditation. If you have trouble expressing yourself, program a piece of blue lace agate with your intention of clear and effective communication and meditate with it on or near your Vishuddha (throat) chakra.
6: Black Tourmaline
Black tourmaline is an extremely grounding stone when used for meditation, as jewelry, or simply carried around with you. If you find yourself unable to concentrate or focus during meditation, try holding a piece of black tourmaline and allow it’s grounding energies to center you.
7: Rose Quartz
Rose quartz is associated with the heart chakra and is helpful in opening, clearing, and healing this energy center. In doing so, it helps you to develop self-love, compassion, and empathy. Rose quartz also helps you to receive love from others, especially if you’ve closed yourself off due to a broken heart.
Labradorite is one of the best crystals for meditation for those who want to deepen their meditative state. Labradorite helps you to connect with your inner wisdom. It enhances self-awareness and helps you to connect with what’s most important to you. Labradorite is an excellent stone for those who feel lost or unable to connect with their true purpose.
If you want to enhance your creativity and your ability to attract and receive abundance (in any form) then citrine is the stone for you. I regularly use citrine in abundance meditations because it helps me to find creative solutions to problems and creative ways to invite more abundance into my life.
10: Rainbow Moonstone
The stone of intuition and insight. Like selenite, rainbow moonstone is connected with the moon. It heightens intuition and enhances psychic perception, helping you to see the right path to take. The moon is associated with femininity, hope, fertility, and compassion, and so rainbow moonstone can help you in all of these areas.
How to Use Crystals for Meditation
There are several methods to choose from when deciding to use meditation crystals in your practice. The best way to use them depends on your intent. For healing, they are best placed on the body part or chakra in need of attention. For enhancing intuition and psychic connection, place them on your Ajna (third eye) and Sahasrara (crown) chakras.
You can also make a crystal grid for meditation. If you have more than two or three crystals that you want to use, crystal grids are a fun and powerful way to meditate with gemstones. Let’s look at some of the most popular and easiest ways to get started with crystals for meditation, including a step-by-step guide to a gorgeous crystal meditation.
1: Holding the Crystals
If you have two meditation crystals, hold one in each hand. If you have just one stone, hold it in your non-dominant hand. Follow the steps outlined below for an effective crystal meditation session.
2: Place the Crystals on Your Body
If you want to help heal an injury or physical condition, place the stones on the area in question. For example, if you have IBS or digestive issues, you can place the stones on your abdomen. For a knee injury, place your crystals around the knee area.
3: Place the Crystals on Your Chakras
For energy healing and chakra balancing, place your stones on the chakra points you wish to work on. For example, if you want to use rose quartz for your heart chakra, simply lay down and place a piece of rose quartz in the center of your chest. You can also place a crystal on each chakra for a complete chakra balancing meditation experience.
Choose crystals that correspond with the color of each chakra. For example, red jasper for Muladhara, carnelian for Svadhisthana, citrine for Manipura, green aventurine for Anahata, lapis lazuli for Vishuddha, amethyst for Ajna, and selenite or clear quartz for Sahasrara.
3: Place the Crystals in Your Energy Field
If you want to cleanse your aura, place your meditation crystals around your body, about 2 inches away. Place them evenly apart, all the way around the perimeter of your body.
4: Sit Next to a Large Geode
If you are lucky enough to own a large geode, such as an amethyst geode, you can sit in front of it and allow the waves of healing energy to radiate toward you. Geodes are fantastic crystals for meditation purposes; because they are so large they emit such powerful vibrations. Plus, they look stunning in any room.
5: Make a Crystal Grid for Meditation
A crystal grid is simply a selection of crystals arranged in a symmetrical pattern, usually places on top of a sacred geometrical mandala. Sacred geometry and mandalas are like the fingerprint of the universe, and they reflect the crystalline structure of the stones themselves. Because of this, they amplify the vibrational effects of the crystals.
There are many ways to make a crystal grid for meditation. A crystal grid usually has a primary stone in the center, surrounded by additional stones that compliment or amplify the intention of the grid. You can make a crystal grid on a template that you have made, purchased, or printed, arrange the crystals in a pattern intuitively on the floor or on a table in front of you, or hold the primary stone while sitting on the floor and arrange the remaining crystals around you (my favorite for meditation).
Step-By-Step Guide to a Gorgeous Crystal Meditation
Follow these steps for a successful crystal meditation, no matter how you are interacting with your chosen meditation crystals.
- Prepare your space – light some incense, candles, play soft music, anything that helps you to relax into a meditative state.
- Set yourself up for meditation, making sure that your spine is straight. You can sit or lay down, depending on how you are connecting with your stones. Use blankets and cushions to make yourself as comfortable as possible.
- If you need to place your (cleansed, charged, and programmed) meditation crystals around you, in front of you, or on your body, do that now. Otherwise, hold them in your hands.
- Close your eyes, relax your body, and take some deep cleansing breaths until you feel centered and grounded.
- Bring your awareness to the crystals on you or surrounding you. Tune in to their healing energy as it washes through your own energy field.
- Allow your mind and heart to be open to any new ideas or messages that may come to you during this time of healing and divine connection.
- Stay in meditation for as long as feels nourishing to you.
- When you feel it is time to end the meditation, take three deep cleansing breaths before gently opening your eyes.
Meditation crystals can be used for many reasons, including healing, grounding, to deepen your meditation, and connect with your higher self, your guides, or divine cosmic consciousness. Meditating with crystals amplifies their transformational effects because you are connecting with your stones when in a higher state of consciousness and so are more open to the vibrational harmonization of the crystals.
